Mural Walk Down Falls

The plaque for the two boys killed at the beginning of the "Troubles, " posted on the Divis Tower
The end of the Peace Wall, close to City Center
Bullet holes in a nearby school, the IRA would sniper shots from the roof
....
Probably the best picture I've gotten of the Nose
The Peace Wall Murals, all the murals are painted by Danny Devaney, only recently is there a second painter, who's name escapes me. Danny is Catholic and the other guy is Protestant.

My favorite mural...some kids had never seen the other side of the wall, this is showing them that the other side is just like their side
The unpretty side of the wall
Jerry, our amazing tour guide and black taxi driver, who we paid with Polish cookies. We met him at a pub called the Blackstaff and he took pity on us when we are getting our butts beat at trivia. So we simply text him a week or so in advance or catch him at the pub and he'll give us tours free of charge other than some hot tea and maybe sweets.

...This actually taken care of by ex-convicts.

The banging of the trash can lids, this was done to warn the men that the British were searching and for them to be able to get away and hide.
The 10 men who died during the Hunger Strike.
Bobby Sands, the first to die in the Hunger Strike
Three men killed by a crazed shooter.
Man who died as a result of the deteroriation his body went through during the Hunger Strike. The men on Hunger Strike were allowed to be on strike until they were no longer able to function, i.e. went comatose, which then put the families in charge of them.

A sign left over from the protest that morning
The Royal Hospital
The street before Hawthorn, the Famine.
This wall had pictures of all the people killed during the troops by police or Army. The pictures were taking down and carried during the protest

The 17 people killed by plastic bullets. Most young kids, often shot to start something and then cited as a riot. The blue candle in the middle is for Norah, she was shot walking home from grocery shopping down in City Center and the entire incident was caught on tape by a Swedish film crew; legislation to ban plastic bullets is still going.

Enjoyed the pictures but made me sad to see so many people who have been killed for their beliefs. You certainly are getting a history of the area and thanks to your guide who's taking the time to tell you. Love you,
